Don Quixote, what a peculiar character. You can call him pathetic, or you can call him inspiring, you can call him crazy or a hero, but there’s only one certainty, the old Spaniard was a cool and interesting guy. The old warrior, in this trio of paintings, is represented in a form of a shadows, silhouettes. Obviously the style is influenced by the legendary Don Quixot’s logo, but with a reason, to give him more movement, to give him even more life, more dimensions. Hopefully, Cervantes would be proud…

A Quick Story About the Woman Behind the Canvas
Born in the troubled post WWII times Verena never really have the chance to focus into art while in her teens. It was in her twenties when she truly stated to study, analyse and admire the giants of art. A fan of impressionism and modern art, the Verena’s beginnings were far from her passion, her first steps done were painting Landscapes and Still Life in oil and pastel techniques. She entered the world of impressionism gradually, step by step, learning advanced techniques one at the time while experimenting with alternative materials along the way. All this hard work payed and it’s still paying off as after half of century later and after various projects and successful exhibitions Verena keeps pushing the boundaries further out never lacking the passion, the creativity, the will to work hard, all in the name of love for this beautiful thing called art.

What does Art mean to you?
Uncovering myself through creativity.
Which was the turning point in your life, when have you found out the meaning of art and what were your first steps into art?
My mother was a very resourceful person and I always followed her lead. With time my artistic expression became an absolute part of me.
Describe your work cycle, from concept to completion?
The stating point is always meditation. When my mind is at peace, a dialogue between soul and canvas begins.
Which are the techniques, material and tools you use?
I use classic techniques like oil on canvas, pastel and relief structuring on canvas.
Who are your art heroes, your teachers, masters?
I get inspiration form all artists including children`s drawings.
