“Wine Lips captured backstage in a dim club room—scuffed walls, scattered gear, and that wired post-show glow. Gritty and unfiltered, like their sound.

Wine Lips are a Toronto-based garage punk and psychedelic rock band, melting faces since 2015 with snarling riffs and kaleidoscopic chaos. What started as a side project between frontman Cam Hilborn and drummer Aurora Evans quickly detonated into a full-throttle, globe-touring phenomenon. Their sound? Equal parts basement show, interstellar freakout, and sonic slap to the senses.

With albums like Stressor and the cult-favorite Mushroom Death Sex Bummer Party, they’ve carved out a reputation for sonic mayhem and sweaty, sold-out shows. Their latest release, Super Mega Ultra (2024), pushes the throttle even harder—12 tracks of pure, unfiltered adrenaline recorded at The Sugar Shack with Simon Larochette.

April 1st, 2025  | Somewhere between feedback and fuzz, I caught the pulse… It tasted like wine and slapped me on the lips. I was instantly struck by an aurora borealis from the Great White North—the one across the pond. Wine Lips carry the punch of urban-jungle socioeconomic rebels, the psychedelic haze of Ozzie’s wake, and the raw ease of the old New York punk scene. A mix of Maple Syrup, Marmite, and Nutella.

The strangest thing? Their fast pace gives me calm. Reflection, not riot. I’d watch them live from a skybox, alone—with a glass of wine and a pipe of the smoothest tobacco available.
